"At least I’ve learned this much:
Life doesn’t have to be
all poetry and roses. Life
can be bus rides, gritty sidewalks,
electric bills, dishwashing,
chapped lips, dull stubby pencils
with the erasers chewed off,
cheap radios played too loud,
the rank smell of stale coffee
yet still glow
with the inner fire of an opal,
still taste like honey."

There are an estimated 6.802 billion people on this planet and out of all of them you have somehow talked yourself into believing that not a single one of them is going to love you as you should be loved. Maybe you have terrible luck or terrible taste.  Maybe you fall in love with every blue-eyed, long-eyelashed, acoustic-guitar strumming boy that happens to walk across your path. You believe that there is no one who could ever understand the shadowed corners of your mind or adore your imperfections. You believe that you are Tom Hansen and that boy is Summer Finn. You are Josie Geller: a never been kissed, hopeless romantic looking for love around every corner and yet dooming yourself in your confidence that you will never find it.

There are an estimated 6.802 billion people on this planet. You will find someone. You will find someone to love and to love you in return because it inevitable. And worth believing in. I have never believed in something more.

Most women will scoff at men who sit in front of a computer screen watching hours and hours of porn.  But aren't we guilty of the same exact thing?  Romantic comedies are like porn for women.  A porn star is this idealized version of women as sexual objects, exactly how men wish we were.  Maybe not all of the time but, some of the time.  The way men are portrayed in our favorite romantic comedies is a woman's most idealized version of men, as desperate open books who will commit to a woman with their entire soul, instill their hopes and dreams into them and depend on them forever and for everything.  Because that is what we want.  Or, at least, we think it is.

I wish you the kind of happiness that doesn't come from worldly things but from self-reliance and acceptance.
I wish you success determined by how you affect those you associate with including the ones around you, above you and, most importantly, below you.
I wish you will never fully grow up and relinquish your curiosity.  The ocean will always be full of mystery and the universe will always be infinite.  Embrace that and seek to explain it.
I wish you knowledge found in the ability to discern what is important, true and moral.
I wish you to never forget the value of your empathy, compassion or imagination.  You have the power to completely change someone's day with a simple phrase or touch of your hand.
I wish you experiences that shake your supposed beliefs, redefine your supposed fears and provide new meaning to your supposed successes.
I wish you hardships that I am positive you will meet with persistence and love.  You are a resilient, beautiful person.  Never forget that.
But, most of all, I wish you love.

"She believed in dreams, alright, but she also believed in doing something about them. When Prince Charming didn’t come along, she went over to the palace and got him."

I want to be like that song you can't get enough of.  The one that you play on repeat for days and days because you want to surrender to the engulfing melody and you don't want to let the tingle that the lyrics leave on your skin fade away.  The one that you show to all of your friends, hoping that they'll like it too.  They aren't allowed to like it as much as you do, of course, because you found it first and claimed it with the strings of your soul, making it truely yours.  I want to be the song that you wouldn't be able get out of your head even if you wanted to with hooks and bridges that you could ponder forever.  I want to be the song that can make you smile when you're sad and the song that makes you spontaneously break into an air-guitar solo when you're alone in your room.
Because that is what you are to me.  You are the mixed tape filled with every single one of my favorite songs back to back

I have decided that I want to be eloquent.  I want to be able to write something that touches someone's emotions and creates empathy.  Or illicits any response at all.  I'm taking a Creative Writing class next semester so I expect to learn a lot from that.  I love words and lyrics and quotes.  What I want more than anything in the world (well, maybe not anything but still a quite a bit) is to be able to express myself.  In a way that I think is beautiful.  I want to learn the art of eloquence.

I can't think of anything worth while to write about though.  I'd like to start with little narratives before delving into anything with characters and plot to really practice using words.  And how to use them to my advantage.  To say a million things with a simple sentence.  To develop an underlying message in the rhythm I use or the diction I choose.  So I've been reading this blog.  And she posted this quote:

"No matter how bad things are at any one moment, no moment lasts. Good or bad, time moves on because it has to. And so do you."

I want to be able to come up with something as beautiful as that.  But I can't.  Not yet, at least.
